What about mining?

Do you think there is a future for mining or is the pos consensus an ultimatum for the future of the whole earth? Let's say bitcoin was created initially and invariably only in such a way that it can be mined, from this it has a fairly high cost both in mining and in storage and transmission. And let's say consensus Pos is quite cheap in stacking and transmission

I would love mining become a past. PoW wastes a lot of energy and harms the planet. Those compute resources can be used for something helpful. For example, decentralized compute services for training AI / ML models, rendering graphics, or processing videos.
