HOW CAN ONE OVERCOME THE SPIRIT OF COVETOUSNESS (GCC #32)
- faith SteemChurch
Exodus 20 (NIV)
17 “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.”
The spirit of covetion is not of the Lord. Coveting an item that is not yours is not good. The spirit of covetion can cause a person to do so many evil things that will affect others negatively. Greed, stealing, envy, and even murder are the fruits of covetion. So, if you feel an overwhelming desire to possess your neighbor's belonging, pray to God for assistance before it escalates.
God didn't left man handicapped, many tools are available to combat and overcome covetousness.
Let your conversation (prayer) be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
contentment. Apostle Paul said that he learned to abound in plenty and to abound in lack. so it could be learnt. Also godliness with contentment is a great gain.
The bible says godliness and contentment is a great gain.
Again one of the Fruit of the holy spirit is TEMPERANCE. TEMPERANCE means moderation of desires.
Greed is the spirit of the devil and can be dealtwith by the power of the holy Spirit.
May God help us in Jesus name. Amen.
