How do you treat your spouse?
Colossians 3:18-19 New International Version (NIV)
Instructions for Christian Households
18 Wives, submit yourselves to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.
19 Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them.
This passage comes into my life, at a very opportune moment, when I am discussing with my wife about the roles that we have to assume in the new ministry entrusted to us in the congregation.
Dad, you are giving me a life lesson with these simple words because I don't have that habit of being tough on my wife, but suddenly I lose my patience when I see and perceive that she does not comply with me to hold on.
Consequently, I begin to meditate and compare my behavior and that of my wife, where I fall into the error of judging and condemning her.
Putting into practice the principle that is written in this verse, I see myself asking for wisdom because in truth I cannot understand my wife in my strength and human logic, but I love her deeply and I want to live up to what I am demands in your word my God.
Without a doubt, the inevitable conclusion of this reflection in my life is that she deserves all my tenderness and attention to her material and spiritual needs.
Thank you Lord for your word.
I can only give to my spouse the level of love I expect in return. Thus, if I need her to love me like nothing else in the world, then I should love her that much. Jesus illustrated this to us
As a man, God expects me to love my wife, be her defence and protection. provide for her and be her priest.
The only stipulation for a successful marriage is:
"Husbands Love your wives"..............
"Wifes submit yourselves to your own husbands".…......…..
This is the antidote.
